Meet the Team

The Evergreen family

Our award-winning landscapers and gardeners are all master craftsmen with many years’ experience, ensuring a superior finish to your project. We have specialists in horticulture, joinery, arboriculture and landscape architecture within our team, and close working relationships with a small pool of hand-picked sub-contractors and suppliers for our more customised requests. Training is important to us, so we regularly ensure our professionals are kept up-to-date with the latest trends and products.

ALASTER – Director

Alaster founded Evergreen back in 1999, after returning from Gstaad in Switzerland, where he helped to build and develop an 18-hole golf course.

Over the years’ Alaster has worked in all aspects of the company from working on the tools on the landscaping and then the maintenance sides of the company, to quoting for work and most recently managing the company as it has grown to the reputable company he has today.

He has always had a passion for the outdoors, and outside work, Alaster is a keen sportsman – from cycling and running to outdoor swimming and clay pigeon shooting. All of this now has to fit around his young family, so he is often spotted around the local area with one of his little ones in their running pram or at the local Football Club or Dojo.

MEL – Marketing

Mel (Alaster’s wife) has been part of Evergreen for more than 15 years, but since returning to work after her second child, Ed (little brother to Annie), was born in 2018, she has taken up a role within the Evergreen office. Mel works part-time hours to fit alongside family life, and you will normally speak to her when you call our office or email us through our website.

When she isn’t busy with work and children, Mel loves going to yoga to relax or, even more so, day-tripping to the spa. Otherwise, you’ll normally find the McAnaw’s out as a family in the countryside – getting the children/dog tired (*cough*), enjoying some fresh air, and finishing off at the pub for a glass of something cold and a bowl of chips!

KAYLA – Landscape Architect

Kayla previously worked for some of New Zealand’s leading landscape designers before bringing her sought-after landscape architect skills and experience to Evergreen. Having gained privileged access to the estates of some of the wealthiest land owners in the world, as well as travelling to more than 60 countries, Kayla is brimming with inspiration and ideas.

Like many Kiwis, Kayla is an adventurous girl who enjoys many watersports including kite-boarding and diving. She is, of course, an ardent gardener who loves exploring new planting ideas at home and visiting some of the world’s most well-known landscape designs, both old and new.

We are also proudly the only landscaping firm in the North West that employs a Landscape Architect :).

BRAD – Landscape Architect

Brad is a dedicated professional with a profound appreciation for the natural world and a strong connection to the UK countryside. When not engrossed in the world of work, Brad can often be found exploring the stunning landscapes of the British countryside, frequently in the company of his young family. His ultimate happy place is undoubtedly North Wales, a destination he frequently revisits for its breathtaking beauty and serene charm. Over the course of his career, Brad has achieved numerous RHS Tatton show medals, serving as a testament to his unwavering dedication and expertise in the field. With more than five years of industry experience, he has had the privilege of contributing his knowledge and skills to Evergreen for the past four years. He looks forward to the ongoing journey of nurturing and preserving the beauty of nature in the years to come.

NICOLE – Landscape Architect

The most recent member of our design family is Nicole, whom is already settling into life at Evergreen and we just love having her in the office, not least for her brew making! Being a local girl Nicole is able to pop home on her lunch break to check on her pampered pooch, Bruno.

Nicole has a long list of qualifications, to name but a few…

  • BSc (hons) degree in Landscape Design and Management.
  • Foundation Science Degree in Garden and Landscape Design.
  • Higher National Diploma in Garden and Landscape Design.
  • National Award in Horticulture.
  • National Certificate in Horticulture.

When Nicole isn’t designing, (or studying) she will be found adventuring with her children and partner – our adrenaline junkie enjoys zip lines and high ropes courses or white water rafting and holidaying in her spare time!

STUART – Landscaping Team Leader

Stuart is one of our longest-serving team members. His specialties include natural stone work and water features, as well as joinery. Stuart previously worked for a bespoke kitchen company, and his transferable skills have been put to good use with our fantastic outdoor rooms and kitchens.

When not working, Stuart and his partner Suzanne have three lovely children and a Border Collie, who all keep him busy. When he does get a rare minute to himself, he can be found carp fishing on Dovemere.

Stuart was a key member of the team involved in the construction of the Gold Award-winning garden we built at the 2017 RHS Flower Show Tatton Park, which was designed by Jake Curley in the Young Designer category.

CHRIS H- Landscaping Team Leader

Chris heads up one of Evergreen’s landscaping teams, he has masses of experience in all aspects of garden landscaping. When Chris isn’t in work, (which isn’t very often!) He will be looking after his little lad or out fishing.

GAV – Landscaper
Gav has nearly 20 years of experience in all aspects of garden landscaping, one of his many talents is resin bound driveways..

When Gav isn’t in work, he will be supporting his beloved Everton and his claim to fame is that he is the Evergreen crazy golf champion.

MIKE S – Landscaper

Mike re-joined the team in 2021, having been a qualified chef for many years. After the birth of his little boy, he decided that a change of career and working hours was in order, and we’re so pleased that he made that decision.

GARY – Landscaping Team Leader

Gary is a real dab-hand when it comes to bespoke brickwork and paving. He loves transforming tired gardens into fantastic outdoor spaces, and his responsibilities include ensuring all sites are organised, planning projects and maintaining high quality workmanship and good team morale.

JAMES F – Landscaper

Following a brief stint in the gardening side of the business, James moved over to landscaping, which is where he sees himself long-term. A respected member of the team, he is a qualified bricklayer, with a pro-active, happy personality that brightens up everyone’s mornings.

When he’s not creating beautiful outdoor spaces, James likes to skateboard, rollerskate and practise MMA.

PAUL  – Garden Maintenance Manager

Paul joined us in Summer 2023, to take on the challenge of nurturing and growing the Garden Maintenance side of the company, having known Paul for many years, we were very excited for him to join our team, he has already made a huge impact, and our team are going from strength to strength.
Talking of challenges, this is something Paul likes at home as well as work, having just had a little baby daughter, 20 years after having his first two children, with his long term partner, Anna. Exciting times at home and at work- we look forward seeing Paul grow within the company.

ANDY – Gardener

Andy has been with the company for almost 18 months, he is our friendly gardener, with customers regularly requesting him to attend their properties. It isn’t just our clients that love Andy, our team do too – he’s a real team player, and always willing to go the extra mile. Andy has recently married his partner and is enjoying being in wedded bliss…

JOSH- Gardener

Josh joined us in June ’23, following a stint in hotel maintenance, he has joined our team as a very popular member of our team.

EVIE – Gardener

Evie has been with us for a few years now.

JORDAN – Gardener

Jordan is a fantastic gardener, and an all-round great person. He’s honest, reliable and hardworking, three qualities that we always look for, but not so often find. Jord has been part of our team

GRAEME – Gardener

GARY – Gardener

Gary is well and truly outnumbered at home- with his three grown girls (and 5 grand children) he comes to work for a break! Gary gets on with everyone and is always having a good laugh with the team. Although he hasn’t been at the company for long, he really has made a big impression as a ‘keeper’ within the team. When he isn’t at work (or babysitting) he will be found tinkering at home fixing things or doing his own garden!

JACK – Gardener

Jack has been with the company for over 15 years (we’ll ignore the little ‘holiday’ he took for a few years!!) Jack is a firm favourite with our customers, always going the extra mile to ensure our clients gardens are in tip-top shape! Jack is a big Liverpool supporter, so in his spare time will be catching up with his team, or he will be out with his two boys enjoying the Cheshire countryside.

Chris – Gardener

Our very own Mr Motivator, Chris, is a part time PT, as well as working full time with our Garden Maintenance team. He is a much valued member of our team- he always has a smile and is our glass half-full man. When he isn’t working hard in clients’ gardens, he can be found swimming in the local lake, up a mountain or at the cinema with his wife and son.
